Welcome!

Welcome to Jewish Memphis!

"Graceland, Beale Street, the Peabody Ducks, the Mighty Mississippi"

These and many more landmarks create a warm image of Memphis. However, few people realize the long and rich history of the Jewish community in this city. Memphis truly offers tremendous and diverse opportunities in educational, cultural, and social activities while also extending the warm Southern hospitality for which we are famous.

The Jewish communal agencies serve every age and need in state of the art facilities with highly professional staff. In this thriving community, Memphis Jewish Federation is the umbrella uniting every aspect of Jewish Memphis (8,000 to 10,000 strong) and touching the heart of every Jewish Home. We are a guide to almost everything Jewish in Shelby County as a first gesture of friendship, a helping hand, and a hearty greeting of Shalom!

Did you know that Memphis Jewish Federation can provide information and give you a link to all agencies, synagogues, and schools in the Memphis Jewish Community?

MJF Action Alert

Israel Action Alert

Two years and four days after their abduction by Hezbollah terrorists, the remains of two Israeli soldiers have been returned to Israel as part of a long-awaited prisoner exchange between the State of Israel and Hezbollah. Israel positively identified the bodies of First Sergeant Ehud Goldwasser and Sergeant First Class Eldad Regev, who were posthumously promoted to Sergeant Major and First Sergeant, respectively.

They were laid to rest on 14 Tammuz, July 17, 2008. In addition, The Jewish Agency for Israel is proud to offer the opportunity for Jewish communities around the world to send their condolences to the bereaved families. The emails will be forwarded to the families next week, during the course of the Shiva.
Visit our homepage, www.jewishagency.org and click on the link to send a condolence letter. The Jewish Agency has also dedicated a special micro site in memory of the soldiers, www.abducted.org.il
